Embracing Change

Hola Familia!!!!
President Haynie is from Seattle Washington and served his mission in Japan. He's way smart and an amazing mission president (even though Ive only met him like 2 times😁 I can already tell.) So funny story about our first interview with president Haynie when we met him literally one of the first things he told us was that in order to do missionary work more effectively we have to work with the members and strengthen the ward. He said this is way more satisfying than knocking doors for 2 hours and you will be able to get real baptisms instead of just doing it for a baptismal statistic. As soon as he said that I knew that our entire aspect of missionary work was going to change. So some of the coolest things about this mission is that it has been a mission since the mid 1800's, we now have the LA temple visitors center in our mission, which president says is necessary that we utilize. In fact its so necessary that he told us that we have to keep track of it as a Key Indicator. He says that when investigators can just get a taste of how strong the spirit is outside the temple they will want to get more of it, therefore helping us as missionaries accomplish our goal of getting investigators to the temple. We are changing our focus from finding to strengthening the ward, he says that instead of sharing just a simple spiritual thought with members we have to train them on how to share the gospel, so we are going to start doing role plays with them as well. One of the things that I'm most excited for is that President Haynie wants us to do at least 2-4 hours of service a week, President Henrie didn't want us doing service because we focused a lot on finding opportunities so just this week we were able to help an Hermana in the ward move (not gonna lie doing service again felt really good.)
Elder Losee and I are really excited for this opportunity me and him both feel that this is a big change but a good one. We think that with all these new resources we are going to see some major increases in effectiveness and in how we are going to do missionary work. this week for me and Elder Losee was pretty slow. our finding was rough due to the Copa Mundial but we still ended up getting 3 investigators to church. The Familia Romero was two of the three that we got to church their son Jovani was just recently baptized but the mom and dad haven't been baptized yet they're just waiting on legal papers before they get married but they are an amazing family and have such a strong faith in Jesus Christ and the restoration. Im always super humbled by what these people have gone through and how they still have a belief in Jesus Christ and God, if anyone has an excuse to not come to church its these people but yet they still do it and sacrifice in order to come and partake of the sacrament. The other Investigator that came to church is named Bernie he has a solid testimony and knows that the book of mormon is true he just needs to be married and then he says that his goal is to make it to the temple to be sealed as soon as possible. So with him right now we are helping him plan out a wedding (And holy crap there is a lot of things to plan for one!!!!) But if he follows through and gets married he should be baptized on the 21st. But other than that It was a pretty slow week for us. Still adjusting to new way of doing missionary but we are super excited to try it out. One of the things I think of grown the most use to is change because you do it a lot as a missionary and you learn to just embrace it.
I'm happy that everyone is doing good and that buddy has taken to Carson that will help him a lot.
